Cascade Girl is producing the Oregon Honey and Mead Festival with sponsorship from the National Honey Board, the City of Medford, local support from Leave Your Mark, Biologic Crop Solutions, Phoenix Industrial Studios, Medford co-op, Ashland food co-op, Crooked Mile Gallery and many others.
The event is a fundraiser for the Cascade Girl Veteran’s Program “Bee Heroes America” and for equipment for our Kids Program to replace items destroyed by the Almeda Fire.
The event on Saturday, June 4 is held at the Craterian Theater Lobby and Gallery, and Vogel Plaza and will feature Mead Tasting with Oran Môr Artisan Mead and Steamworks Meadery. Rogue Creamery is providing Cheeses and the Lobby will be a 21+ Area.
Talks in the Gallery are family friendly and include a 10 AM early Bird talk on Honey for Natural Beauty with local Author, Janice Cox, a presentation on Flowers and Beekeeping by Fonta Molyneaux whose upstate Flagship farm was recognized for excellence by OSU, Dr Andony Melathopoulos, director of the Oregon Bee Project at OSU who will discuss Oregon’s native bees and Lilly Weichberger, owner of Oran Môr Artisan Mead in Roseburg talking about how she makes award winning mead.
Bands including the Jen Ambrose Duo, Wilderlands and the Robbie DaCosta Trio will perform at Vogel plaza alongside crafters, beekeepers offering honey, artists, nonprofits, bee clubs, hive makers and food vendors including a new one, “Mas Elote” which makes a street corn accompanied by Honey Butter!
